Sikh Art competition 2020
“This initiative was conceptualised following the decision by Sikh Foundation International to make an e-copy of their beautiful publication “Sikh Art from the Kapany Collection” available as a free download, earlier this year.
During a worldwide lockdown as a result of the pandemic, the free access provided the opportunity for the Art Competition.
My sincere thanks to the individuals and teams at Karamsar Panjabi School, The Central Gurdwara Khalsa Jatha British Isles and South London Sikh Youth who worked with us to promote the competition. The range of entries have made for a wonderful and uplifting viewing experience, and the feedback from our judges I hope provides inspiration to the young entrants.
I would also like to thank companies who have such wonderful products which we have purchased as prizes, and to the parents and families who provided the time and support to their children to participate in this ‘little’ initiative.”

“The initiative has reinforced that for many children art is the medium to express themselves. I feel like giving all these children a big hug as their work is mind blowing. It is pure, unadulterated, spiritual and therapeutic. Very well done to all the artists and a special thank you to the parents, family members and mentors for encouraging the youngsters.
A special word of gratitude for the expert judges, all of them exceptional artists, for spending several days going through each entry and evaluating it from an artistic perspective.”
